GUEST INSTRUCTOR

Haunani's Yoga Anatomy material was an essential addition to our Teacher Training program. Her delivery style is energetic, passionate, concise and thorough. Haunani's extensive knowledge and her charismatic, heart-warming energy made for an effective and special experience for our trainees. It allowed them to learn the content of this important topic in a way that was accessible and enjoyable. Haunani was a joy to work with; professional, accommodating, and most of all, her passion for the practice illuminates her teachings. I highly recommend inviting Haunani to share her wealth of knowledge and experience with your rising yoga teachers!

Why choose IYA?...because IYA keeps anatomy connected to the sacredness of the Yoga teachings.

Integrated Yoga Anatomy (IYA) was born in 2011 out of a need -- the need to improve the yoga anatomy education in Yoga Teacher Trainings (YTT).  As an anatomy geek, Haunani always looked forward to studying yoga anatomy.  Unfortunately YTT after YTT, she found herself underwhelmed.  She recognized a massive gap between yoga anatomy education and the future of yoga as a healing modality in the U.S.  As she mentored more and more YTT students and began seeing more injuries in her Acupuncture clinic, Haunani's pitta nature was ignited.  Coupling her undergraduate background in pre-med, sports medicine, and athletic training with her post-graduate studies in Chinese Medicine and Ayurveda, Integrated Yoga Anatomy was born.

IYA integrates the anatomy basics of modern bio-medicine and Asian medicine to the sacred practices of Yoga.  Keeping the divine wholeness of body, mind, and spirit at the core, Haunani's focus is to educate, empower, and inspire students to find deeper understanding, awareness, mindfulness, and connection in their own bodies. She encourages self-exploration as she moves through the topics.  During IYA it is common for students to have moments of realization and deep healing.  By deepening their relationship with their own body, they can begin to appreciate every-body while maintaining safety and effectiveness in the classes they lead.

Haunani's passion for modern bio-medicine and Asian medicine, anatomy, physiology, all things yoga comes through in her engaging workshops.  Understanding the diverse learning styles represented in a YTT, Haunani uses visual, kinesthetic, and practical exercises so students can grasp the information and walk away feeling confident as an informed yoga practitioner and instructor.
